สถานประกอบการ หมายถึง สถานที่หรือส่วนของสถานที่ ที่ใช้ในการดำเนินกิจกรรมทางเศรษฐกิจและอยู่ในที่ตั้งที่แน่นอน ไม่ว่ากิจกรรมนั้นจะดำเนินงานโดยบุคคลที่เป็นเจ้าของ หรือควบคุมกิจการโดยนิติบุคคลก็ตาม - การนับจำนวนสถานประกอบการพิจารณาดังนี้ 1) กรณีที่สถานประกอบการมีการดำเนินกิจกรรมทางเศรษฐกิจมากกว่า 1 ประเภท ในสถานที่ตั้งแห่งเดียวกัน เช่น ขายส่งและขายปลีกเสื้อผ้าสำเร็จรูป โดยดำเนินการอยู่ในสถานที่ตั้งแห่งเดียวกัน และการดำเนินกิจการของแต่ละประเภทมีระบบบัญชีฯ แยกจากกันโดยสามารถแยกจำนวนคนทางานออกจากกันได้โดยเด็ดขาด ให้นับกิจการแต่ละประเภทเป็นแต่ละสถานประกอบการ แต่ถ้าไม่สามารถแยกบัญชีฯ ได้ให้นับรวมเป็นหนึ่งสถานประกอบการ 2) กรณีที่สถานประกอบการมีสถานที่ดำเนินกิจการหลายแห่งตั้งอยู่ในสถานที่ต่างกัน ให้นับแต่ละแห่งเป็นหนึ่งสถานประกอบการ
